Hi! I'm Shelby, an incoming FGCU Pre-Nursing freshman looking for a part-time Nanny Tutor role with elementary or early middle schoolers.
My Experience:
Special Needs: Grew up with a sister with Down syndrome and autism. Lifetime of hands-on experience with neurodivergent kids!
Tutoring: Structured K-8 homework help.
Cooking: Kid-friendly meals and handling picky eaters.
Infant & Child Care: Bedtime routines, story-time, and safe wrapping (familiar with Orthodox Jewish woven wraps).
Housekeeping: I provide light cleanup of active messes (dishes, toys, wiping surfaces), but do not provide deep-cleaning services.
Logistics: I live in the FGCU dorms and rely on campus shuttles and local transit. I'm happy to travel to your home if it is accessible via transit! Seeking a stable schedule that aligns with my heavy pre-nursing workload.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I grew up helping care for my younger sister, who has Down syndrome and autism. Professionally, I have worked as a nanny for elementary schoolers (2nd and 3rd grade), handling homework, routines, and meal prep. I was also frequently selected as a peer para for special education students in my classes growing up.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love doing structured tutoring and homework help to make learning fun! I also enjoy active playtime (like jumping on the trampoline!), reading storybooks, doing simple arts and crafts, and preparing fun, healthy meals for picky eaters.

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part is safety and building a trusting relationship with both the kids and parents. As a future nurse, I prioritize a secure, healthy environment while ensuring the children feel supported, heard, and cared for.

My experience with special needs children...

My primary experience comes from living with and caring for my younger sister with Down syndrome and autism. This gave me a lifetime of hands-on, daily experience with neurodivergent behaviors, patience, and non-verbal communication. I am highly comfortable and compassionate with special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moments are always when a child finally understands a hard homework concept they have been struggling with! Seeing that lightbulb go off and watching their confidence grow is incredibly rewarding for me as a tutor.
