"Sherry is a very knowledgeable individual with lots of insight into the development of children. She was a good nanny with my children and knew how to keep them engaged, occupied, and learning. I would recommend her particularly for early child years to aid in developmental strategies."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Teacher pre-school through 7th grade; tutor; Sunday School teacher; Vacation Bible School; Youth Club; Royal Rangers; Camp Fire Girls. I was the families temporary help for my sister and 2 nieces who has surgery.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Arts and crafts, making music, singing, reading books, make believe, science activities, exploring nature, cooking, school activities
I enjoy taking the children on outings, especially during the Summer. Places like the park, swimming, to the library, the zoo or museums.
I like to engage the children in educational activities like exploring the back yard with magnifying glasses and fun experiences like making a blanket fort. Though, even playing can be educational.
Sometimes I'm silly with the children and am definitely a hands on Nanny. If they are making mud pies, I'm probably making them, too! Building a snow man and snowball fights? Count me in!
I don't mind if they have friends over, as long as the children are respectful and careful with other people's belongings.
I prefer activity over screen time or TV.
Children also need time to just be a kid!

The most important part about being a nanny...
Being in tune with the children and nurturing their natural childhood curiosity with fun activities.
Maintaining a schedule consistent enough to provide a structured environment yet flexible enough to take advantage of teaching moments.
Being supportive of the parents with household routines and their goals for their children's growth and education.

My experience with special needs children...
I was the director of a childcare on the campus of the Colorado School for the Deaf and Blind. I had children with hearing impairments; vision impairments; and typical children. I know beginning ASL and am still studying it. I have worked with children who are developmentally delayed; have Cerebral Palsy; non verbal children. I have extensive experience with Dyslexia, ADHD and OCD. Both of my children and I have it. I homeschooled them all 12 years. I was a certified teacher through their 7th and 8th grades.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One mother said a reference had described me as a 'kid magnet!' It's true. Children tend to gravitate towards me.
