Nice to meet you, I'm Sheryl.

With my love for healthcare and my certifications, I felt it would be a great idea to provide care and help to families who aren't afraid of reaching out!

I am currently taking a BNA training program in order to get my Nursing Assistant certification. I am also CPR certified.

Throughout high school, many of my CTE classes dealt with child development, school-age child, and preschool care.
I also took classes regarding cognitive function such as a personality, behavior, and relationship class as well as a psychology class.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

Throughout my academic career, I participated in numerous volunteering activities that constituted a positive experience for children.

These volunteering activities involved taking care of children throughout the Des Plaines and specifically the D62 community.

I volunteered to assist children during facility PTO meetings at South Elementary through chaperoning, holiday fundraisers after school at South Elementary through supervising, class while teaching academic subjects using engaging activities at Plainfield Elementary.

Lastly I spent 3 years volunteering at the Youth floor of the Des Plaines Public Library, encouraging children to read and join programs such as the summer reading program or join any community-wide programs.

Asides from volunteering, I have provided care to family members on occasion. I would tend to my two younger cousins during their breaks and after school, assisting them with homework and feeding needs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to help teach kids learn basic subjects such as math, literature, reading, and science! It's great to see the knowledge of a child develop as the days pass.

Arts and crafts is definitely a great hands-on activity with a little one as they are allowed to express their creativity while practicing artistic independence.

I also just enjoy watching the little ones interact with what they are interested in, such as playing with any electronics, toys, or imaginary role-playing.

The most important part about being a nanny...

What matters the most about being a nanny is connecting with the family.

Without a good connection, trust, patience, and conversations would be very hard to maintain and keep fluid.
This puts the child's care at a disadvantage and can lead to issues with both the nanny and the family, which is something entirely avoidable when both parties have a great relationship!
