A little bit about me

I am a highly qualified nanny/governess, with an early childhood degree. I have been an Early Childhood Center Coordinator and lead teacher. I have over 20+ years as a nanny and governess! I am also a widow who has raised my own two children and 5 grandchildren!

I am interested in the whole child and have managed several homes for parents that work! I live shared responsibilities as well as sole care. I work well with an incorporated home with high net worth clients! I have been in homes with up to 4or 5 children, including newborn twins, and children of all age ranges! I love the life of a governess/nanny and would like to find another family to work with including the possibility of military families and traveling families!

I am highly qualified and enjoy the life that includes children and would welcome any opportunity to be long-term as well!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Is how we model for the children we care for! What do I silently convey, and what is my lesson left with them when turning them back to their parents? What have I taught, modelled, or shared of value with the children in my care! What do they say of me when I leave for the day? What have I learned in caring for them? I believe how a child feels in your care is pivotal!

My experience with special needs children...

I am an Early childhood Specialist including all age children Birth-21, with differing abilities.
I have worked with children with mild to severe Autism Spectrum Disorders, Asperger’s Syndrome, Communication Disorders, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairment , Visual impairment, Spina Bífida, Learning Impairment, Developmentally Delayed, Mild to Severe Retardation, Emotionally Disturbed, and a range of Mental Health Disorders

All children deserve to have the best and least restrictive environment for learning. I believe that it is my responsibility to make that happen for all children of differing abilities and give them an opportunity for exceptional learning experiences! I believe in best practice with every child and scaffolding the child to rise to the best of their ability and help them do so!

The most important part about being a nanny...

Once I had a 5 month old, a 2 yrs old with ASD, a 4 yr old and a 5 yr old at the table all together for a painting activity. The results were all Picasso worthy paintings freehand. When they were finished, I saw the potential for greatness in all 4 children’s painting from the finger painting to the brush watercolour! Amazingly enough, mom thought they were all exquisite, and she saw the creative ways to engage all levels and ages of the children!
