More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
My earliest experience was babysitting at 10 years old. That is also the first time I took a first aid class. When I was old enough I became a teacher in child care centers from 2016- current. Since my start in 2016 I have attended many early childhood development classes. I have attended specialty classes and training for special needs, physical mobility, and water safety. I have completed my 45hrs of state classes needed to work in childcare centers. I also have maintained workshops yearly.
I also have worked for a swim school where I taught children from 4m-12 years how to survive and swim in water. I am able to teach basic survival skills if they were to accidently fall into a body of water. All the way to intermediate skills where they would be proficient in swimming pool widths and on.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing many different activities. When working with all ages, but especially infants. I love to teach and learn sign language with them! I'm currently still learning all I can about ASL but I do use a lot of basic signs with children as well in my own life. Some of my other favorite activities to do with children, of all ages, are music and art! It not only helps keep the boredom at bay, but it helps their body and mind work together. Dance parties are great for helping with big body movements. Which will later help with running, jumping, and balance. Kids see the world in such amazing ways. While doing art with kids you not only get to see how they see the world, you also get a small view into how their brain works from a very young age.
The most important part about being a nanny...
To be honest the best part about being a nanny is being able to give all of my attention to a smaller group of children. Being able to have more 1 on 1 time with each child and get to know them for who they are. Being able to have more of a personal relationship with the family is definitely a huge plus as well! I am able to share more about who I am as a person with the family as a nanny.
While being a teacher is great and has many positives. Nannying allows so much more focus, connection, and progress. With a smaller working group I am able to move at the pace of the student. If your two year old is reading already, we will progress that, not have to wait for the rest of the class.

My experience with special needs children...
While growing up I took care of my brother with Asperger's. I was a primary caretaker for about 5 years of his teenage life. While working in child care centers, I had children from many different backgrounds, and mental levels. I tend to have a keen eye out for what is triggering for children and trying to figure out what soothes them. Not everyone reacts or needs the same kind of comfort as the person next to them. My only request is honesty. While I meet your family I will want to see how your child acts in your home and with the members in your family.
I am also in the process of learning American Sign Language. Which is something I share with all children in my care. Sign Language is a super beneficial communication skill for all children deaf, hard of hearing, or hearing to have.

The most important part about being a nanny...
My first nanny experience I was a live in nanny for a family who had twins. I would work M-F with the kids and had weekends with the family off for free time. One Saturday the mom had asked me last minute to watch the kids. I had plans to go to the beach for the day and mom agreed to let me take the girls with me.
The beach is full of so many great learning experience for children of all ages. The smell and feel of the cold water. The heat and softness of the sand under them. The sounds and sights of the different things around them!
We added sea shells, we did races with the waves, they wrote their names in the sand. Or in other words, we worked on math, big body movement, and worked on literacy skills. All while having fun at the beach!!
