More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
College Degree: B. S. Elementary Education; Lyndon State College, VT. Teacher & Substitute teacher (K-6) at Newport City Elementary, Derby Elementary, and Burke Town School. In addition to teaching in the public school system, I also have a solid career history in daycare/childcare settings. I worked as a teacher's aide at The Plymouth State University Center For Young Children & Families, while I was enrolled at Plymouth State College. I was also a teacher's aide at The Little Rascal's Daycare, in Derby, Vermont for over 7 years; until the owner of the daycare, Nancy Poulin. Once she closed, I began nannying. For several years, I watched children from various ages, for several private households.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
Depending on the age groups; infants/toddlers/preschoolers ...outdoor adventures! Nature walks, water fun; sprinklers, the pool, visiting a local splash pad, bubble play, and even sidewalk chalk. Interactive play, creative arts and educational games that all foster development. Other popular activities include scavenger hunts sensory play, reading, tummy time, music, singing, imaginative play, gross motor activities; crafts, coloring, cutting, pasting, play-doh, blocks, puppets, fine motor skill activities such as handwriting, counting with beads, and the list is endless, really.
Having a daily routine foster's comfort, trust, and confidence in young children, while developing their core physical and cognitive skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Ensuring the safety and well-being of the children in my care. Maintaining current CPR & First Aid certification is essential for handling emergencies and minor injuries. A great nanny is reliable, patient, genuinely loves the company of children, has a basic understanding of child development, has lots of energy, responsible, respectful, trustworthy, creative, has a clean background, is able to form a connection with children, and is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the children in my care.
My experience with special needs children...
My brother was born hearing impaired, so I have a solid background in American Sign Language (ASL).
In a few of the classrooms I taught, along with daycare settings; IEP’s, along with accommodations created and implemented.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many!! I absolutely LOVE when children reach milestones, such as standing on their own, saying a first word, taking their first steps, or even achieving a new skill through dedicated care, such as conquering potty training!
