Hello! My name is Sonya. I’m 22 years old, and I’ve been in a loving relationship with my boyfriend for seven years. We share our home with our playful dog, Odie, who’s just over a year and four months old. I love going on walks and watching my boyfriend perform at his gigs—he plays guitar and sings, and I love supporting him.
When I was younger, my mom used to foster children, and one of them was a high-functioning autistic boy. We still keep in touch, and he’s doing so well—he’ll be starting kindergarten this year, and he absolutely loves school! He used to experience sensory overload, but seeing how much he’s grown and how excited he is about learning has been really special.

I certainly work at a Christian daycare I have been working there for a year and 7 months I love being able to work with kids and teach and see the world through kids eyes !

I also work at another daycare for a year and 3 months I left due to management.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy engaging in a variety of activities with children. Some of my favorite things to do include visiting the park, where we can play, explore, and enjoy the outdoors together. I particularly love facilitating arts and crafts projects, as they allow children to express their creativity, develop fine motor skills, and gain confidence in their ideas. Whether we’re painting, building, or creating something imaginative, I find it incredibly rewarding to guide them!

The most important part about being a nanny...

To me, the most important part of being a nanny is creating an environment that is both safe and fun. I cherish the cuddles, the imaginative stories, and the little moments that make childhood so special. Kids are only little for a short time, and I believe in making those years filled with joy, comfort, and meaningful experiences.

My experience with special needs children...

I have had the opportunity to work with several children during my time in childcare, and each experience has been meaningful in its own way. One of my mom’s foster children, whom we cared for over the course of two years, was high-functioning autistic and had sensory processing disorder. During that time, a specialist visited our home every week to work with him on sensory regulation and behavior management. It was incredibly valuable to observe her techniques and learn how we could support him more effectively in our daily routines. Being part of his growth and seeing the positive impact of consistent care and patience.

The most important part about being a nanny...

have a classroom moment that means a lot to me. One of my favorite parts of working with children is watching their faces light up when they realize they can trace their names on their own. Seeing their excitement as they recognize each letter and proudly follow the lines truly warms my heart. Moments like these when their confidence grows and they feel proud of themselves are what make working with children so rewarding. I love there little giggle when they come running!
