My experience with special needs children...
In highschool I worked alongside our CDC class 2-3 times a week as part of an elective class I was in. I have been around and assisted others as well, but have not done so for more than a few hours truthfully. I fully believe it is within my capabilities, but of course I will need a thorough explanation of how the child lives daily, likes, dislikes, tendencies, etc to appropriately care for and support their needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment has been helping teach a kid to swim or ride a bike. I believe that is a big milestone to kids that contributes to their motor skills but also them having fun and they always are very proud of themselves once they’re able to do so. It’s fun to see their excitement in these moments and help them to not give up on themselves if they feel as though they can’t do it.
