The training I received for this position included 70% EMT-level skills, such as CPR, the Heimlich maneuver, and emergency first aid.
While working as a lifeguard, I’ve also been a Junior Lifeguard Instructor, teaching kids of all ages how to navigate currents, develop leadership skills, and learn what it takes to become a state lifeguard. Before that, during my sophomore and junior years of high school, I worked as a swim instructor for all ages, teaching basic swimming techniques and water safety, with a focus on infant water safety.
