Being very responsible, being a friend/ mentor if that’s the right word! But also helping the child grow and learn as well. It’s the best feeling that you made an impact on a child’s development.
My experience with special needs children...
Very minimal, but about 14 weeks (two summers) of experience with a child on the Autism Spectrum at the camp that had tendencies of running.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Not particularly nannying, but when I was a camp counselor I helped some kiddos out when they were missing their parents ( 4-6 years old.) sharing memories of their parents to feel comforted. Then one child at the end of the summer came up to me, and told me he did that every time he missed his Mom and Dad at camp.
