More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I babysit two young children for 12 hours every weekend. However, I would love to work with more families throughout the week! Previously, I have nannied a set of twins under the age of 2 and their 12-year old brother. I have also regularly babysat another set of boy/girl twins from when they were 4 until they turned 10. I've worked with a family throughout the summer months caring for a young girl from when she was 8, until she turned 11. I have volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and a summer camp counselor with my family's church for years. I have been involved with mission trips working with children from different countries. Please feel free to reach out and request references, I would love to get to know you!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
When I am babysitting, I love to encourage playing outside. I often bring chalk and contribute to the mural that will likely appear on the driveway. With the family's permission, I like to take the kids on walks to discover nearby parks and play areas. On sunny days I like to include water activities, like balloon toss and running through the sprinklers. I have a tendency to bring messy activities, like painting and crafts, outside as well. I love to be an active participant in games and playtime. I have no problem including other kids from the neighborhood in our outdoor activities.
When the weather is yucky, I prefer to keep everyone indoors. We can find something fun to watch on Disney+ or play board games. I love to encourage arts and crafts, whether it's finger painting or play-doh. You may even return home to a family of pet rocks complete with googly eyes and very distinct personalities.

The most important part about being a nanny...
I think it is important to recognize the children individually. Every child has a unique personality, and their own interests. I want to allow them to pursue those interests and interact with their environment. I believe that childhood is a magical time for learning new skills and exploring hobbies. I always try to include their input on activities and snacks. I want to build a friendship with them as well as being their caretaker.
My experience with special needs children...
One of the children I watch on the weekends is diagnosed with Autism. Throughout high school I nannied for a young family from my church with kids who have special needs. The oldest is a miracle baby. He suffered substantial neurological impairments due to being born 20 weeks premature. I cared for him, and his baby brothers every day throughout the summer of 2019. One of the young twins in that family was diagnosed with Autism while I was employed. I am able and willing to adapt to any special needs within the families I work for. I am hoping to graduate with a psychology degree in May. One of my requirements include weekly visitations to the Kalamazoo Great Start Collaborative Center for Autism. I am very familiar with children who have special needs, and I am enthusiastic to work with them.
The most important part about being a nanny...
Throughout this summer I have been spending my weekends with a 7-year old boy and a 5-year old girl. During my first few weeks, the family received a bike with no training wheels from a neighbor. When the little girl first got on the bike, she was falling everywhere and getting easily frustrated. We spent hours every weekend practicing balance and steering. Every time I saw her she wanted to keep trying. Finally, after a month of scraped knees and arguments over elbow pads, she was zooming down the sidewalk! I am so grateful that I was able to assist with this milestone. I cannot wait to hear about all the adventures that bike will take her on (when she's a little older of course).

Full-Time Nanny Available in Kalamazoo, MI: Kelsey P.
I am a dedicated preschool teacher with nearly four years of experience in early childhood education. I am passionate about supporting children’s growth and creating a safe, nurturing environment where they can thrive. While I have valued my time in a classroom setting, I am seeking a more personalized role where I can provide one-on-one care. I have experience caring for siblings, including toddlers and infants, and I am especially interested in a nanny position that allows me to assist with routines such as drop-offs while offering attentive, individualized support throughout the day.
