The most important part about being a nanny...
I have never been a nanny, I’ve babysat, helped raise my niece and nephew, and I work with pediatrics in radiology. To be a regular adult in a child’s life there are so many important things for the child, and family. Safety is a top priority, not only physically safe but for parents to feel comfortable with who is taking care of their children.

Working in a hospital setting I have had experience with a very wide range of special needs. My approach has always been first understanding where the child feels safe, and their way of communicating. Everyone is different :)
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite moments have always been with autistic children in varying places of the spectrum, when they do something outside of their norm with my encouragement, and sometimes I don’t know what prompts them, but seeing their parents faces light up and tell me how their child has never done whatever “that” may be.
