I loved running into students outside of school. Once, I was outside a home with a friend, when all of a sudden , we heard a young man's voice coming from the upper window. "Ms W! Ms W! I was your best Elvis!!" (I had taught the class a song that had "uh huh uh huh uh-huh" and I told them to sing it like Elvis!)
My favorite moment as a teacher is when the whole class (I had taught them for only a few months) saw me in the hall as they were lined up to go to lunch and they all forgot the rules and ran over to hug me, almost knocking me over! Ms W! Ms W, they all shouted in their "outdoor voices"! The other teacher was trying to gather them back under control and I was embarrassed and thrilled all at the same time!
