Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Throughout my life, I have watched many children of different ages. Most parents where friends of my mom and teachers, and I was paid under the table. In high-school I walked my brother, who has autism, to his class everyday. I occasionally would sit with the special needs children while the teacher ran errands around the school.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love painting, drawing, blowing bubbles, running, watching cartoons, playing various games, and catching lightning bugs! I am willing to play any games or do any (safe) activities that will make your child happy and keep them occupied!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the children are safe and their needs are met will always be #1 in my book. Making sure I'm following any specific instructions from parents is also very important to me. It's not my job to step on your toes or change the way you're raising your children.
My experience with special needs children...
My brother, Theo, has autism. Throughout my life, I have helped my mother with caring for him. She would often have friends over who had special needs children, and after seeing how I was with Theo, alot of them wanted me as a babysitter. I do not have professional experience, however, I have had to deal with many different circumstances and situations that may come up while watching a special needs child. I.e : emotional outbursts, sensory overload, self-injury, stimming, social withdrawl, etc. I am very comfortable around special needs kids, and am willing to watch them if I can reasonably accommodate their needs . Side note: I also have experience with bullied children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I once babysat a kid named Joel. He loved swimming and had a pool and splashpad in his backyard. We often went to "war" with water guns and nerf guns in the backyard. Some of the best times of my life.
