My experience with special needs children...
In high school, I was in Buddy Club- which paired mainstream students with those of special needs, once a week for fellowship as well as assistance in Special Olympic games. In 2011, I worked for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia as a camp counselor. I had the privilege of participating in a program that allowed girls with physical handicaps, to go to residential camp for 1 week. During the camp session, I shared a cabin with 4 special needs children, between ages 8-12. Alongside another staff member, I provided assistance with dressing, mobility, eating, hygiene, and pool activities! It was an incredible opportunity and allowed me to develop new skills in the field of child development and education.
