Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have babysat for multiple families. I currently babysit occasionally for a one year old girl (8 months old at start date). I also babysat from 8-3 for a 2 year old boy for about a year. The most experience I did was a co-op of children ages newborn-kindergarten for four hours once a week! It was a wonderful experience!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I enjoy doing imaginative play with children, art, spending time outside, and (if old enough) doing educational activities such as reading!
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about a nanny is that you don't only watch the kid (s) for a few hours. You help them, and you build a relationship with them. You learn and you grow with them and their family. An important part is that you also respect the family's parenting style, even if you disagree. It's a learning experience for everyone, and a stress reliever for the parents!
My experience with special needs children...
I have an older brother who is almost 17. He has severe non-verbal autism. I have helped out many times, mostly keeping him safe and preparing meals for him. I also worked with a toddler with a neurological injury a couple years ago, which presented as autism.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment is when I did not think and said the word "stupid" in front of the child (which was my bad). The child was shocked and proceeded to "tell his daddy that the babysitter said the "'s"' word." A funny and honest moment.
