Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
- School Special needs assistant for a girl who had a brain tumour. I worked with her SAL therapist, OT, nurse and her parents to ensure the highest quality care was provided.
- Support worker for a child, 6 and a young man, 30. Both people had ASD and had different care needs. These two jobs included administrating medication and keeping written notes to efficiently communicate with the other care givers.
- My family in Scotland are a fostering family, we have a young girl with us on placement and she has lived with us since 2017. She’s an integrated part of our lives and we have supported her during her ASD diagnosis and working alongside social work to ensure she was receiving a safe, secure living environment.
- I gained a promotion from Early year’s practitioner to room coordinator for ages 3-5. I was responsible for the staff within that room and ensuring they were keeping up to date on the children’s progress.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I love doing arts & crafts, anything to do with sensory and working on fine and gross motor skills. Working within childcare settings has allowed me to set up play stations that allow free flow play and child led learning.
I also feel strongly that children should go out into the community and gain independence by choosing an activity or place to explore. Playgrounds/aquariums/cinemas/cafes. This allows them to develop social skills with the wider community.
