Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Since I work as an EMT, I’ve had many pediatric patients. I was able to form bonds with him at their worst times. Back home in Pennsylvania, my nephew, who will be 3 in September, was my bestfriend. I played with him, gave him baths, make him yummy snacks and even managed to get him to take a nap!
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I’m easy to please! Kids wanna watch TV and snuggle? I got the blankets! Kids wanna go play in the mud? I’ll be there waiting with fresh clothes. Kids wanna color? Pass me the crayons! I will mirror your child’s energy and make sure they have an interest in whatever activity we are doing!
The most important part about being a nanny...
Making sure the kids I care for receive all the love, attention, validation and security they need when the parents aren’t there. At the end of the day, a happy kid makes for a happy parent :)
My experience with special needs children...
My brother, who is now 16, has cerebral palsy. I’ve always cared for him in addition to my parents by helping set up tube feeds, get his medications ready and change the occasional diaper! I’ve also volunteered at many events for special needs children and have assisted my brother and other special needs children on school trips!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I would take my 2 year old nephew grocery shopping with me for my sister while she was at work. We picked up some grapes and he said he wanted one. So I gave him a grape and he just... held it. Didn’t eat it, didn’t smush it, nothing. When I picked him up and he dropped the grape and gasped dramatically and said “MY GRAPIE!! TEAGIE! BABY’S GRAPE FALL DOWN CRASH”. so simple but so cute
