More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
While living in Iowa, I cared for many different families with all age ranges. I provided meals, tidied the house and any other chores that the family needed help with. I also took the kids to school, practices, extracurriculars, and to new places to explore. I have provided overnight care for some families that I had cared for on many occasions as needed.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I really enjoy getting to be outdoors with kids, as I feel it's important to get out of the house and explore. Bike rides, pool days, and trips to the library are some of my absolute favorite places and things to do with kids. I also really enjoy finding fun crafts to do, especially ones that aid in learning in a fun way!
The most important part about being a nanny...
I find the most important part of being a nanny is being flexible and understanding to a families needs. I have provided for many different families with different cultures which has helped me to appreciate how everyone can raise kids differently, and how important culture impacts that.
My experience with special needs children...
I worked for two years at the Florida Autism Center, working with kids on the spectrum. This center specializes in early intervention with ages ranging from 1 year old to 10 years old. I worked 1-on-1 with the kids for 3-4.5 hour sessions and implemented treatment plans written by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. I aided in speech development, alternative forms of communication for nonverbal kids, potty training, and structured learning along with natural environment learning opportunities. I loved getting to watch the kids flourish and learn to engage in play with peers.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment was actually after I nannied for a family and saw one of the kids years later in a dance class that I was assisting in teaching. It was amazing to get to see how the child had grown and hear their stories of high school and create an entirely new bond. I continued to teach them in dance for the rest of the year, and it was a pleasure getting to care for them in a different way again.
