My name is Tegan.
I am 24. I am currently in college finishing out my degrees in psychology and my bachelors in nursing. I have babysat, nannied, worked in daycares and worked in summer camps, so I have a lot of experience. I am dedicated to creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and creative environment for kids. I enjoy art, I am good at cooking, baking, and will even do housekeeping if asked to. I believe that communication is key in the relationship between me and the parent(s). Because I am in nursing school I have many medical certifications but I am always willing to get training or more certifications if it would make a family feel more comfortable.

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked as a nanny for 3 different families. I was a supervising intern for my church nursery for 6 years. I worked at the YMCA nursery for 2 years. I have worked 7 years at different summer camps and I have babysat for many years.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy cooking and baking with children.
I enjoy doing art projects, dancing and singing to music. I love helping out with homework, science and math are my specialties. I enjoy going on walks, playing outside at the park and playing sports.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I want both the kids and parents to feel like I am creating a safe and comfortable environment. I want the kids no matter the age to be able to thrive and feel supported when I am around.

My experience with special needs children...

I have a ton of experience with kids with learning disabilities and kids on the autism spectrum. I have also gained experience with kids who specifically struggle with mental health issues. With my nursing classes and clinicals I am gaining more experience children who have medical special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment so far is with one kid I nannied for almost 3 years. He really struggled with learning disabilities and peer interactions but he had latched on to me pretty early on. We worked hard to make the time I had with him both fun and productive. He had fun but also learned so many things. But I moved away to go to college and I recently got to go back to visit him. It has been 4 years but I got to visit him and when I walked into his house he ran up to me and said " Mom, Ms. Tegan is here, She is really here, there is no way today could be a bad day"
Just knowing that for him, I made him feel safe, loved, and accepted means the world to me. We had days where we had to do and practice things for his different therapies he hated but I was able to do it in a way that we could spin it and put a positive light on it.
