Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I worked at the Before and After School Program through the YMCA at Mendon Center Elementary School during my Junior and Senior years of high school. I helped lead craft activities, played games, and provided academic assistance when needed.
During my first semester of college, I worked as a teacher’s assistant for the kindergarten class. I worked especially with a child on the autism spectrum, providing specialized assistance when needed.
Last summer, I worked as a counselor at Writers and Books, where I helped foster a fun, creative, exciting learning environment for ages 8-13.

The most important part about being a nanny...
Listening! To both the parents and the children; being able to adapt to specific needs and showing genuine care. Equally as important is creating a fun atmosphere. I remember having nannies I adored as a child, and nannies I dreaded. The key difference was the nannies I loved gave 110% of their attention, and actively tried to make me happy, rather than just supervising.
My experience with special needs children...
I have experience from all three of my past childcare experiences working with kids with ADHD and with kids on the autism spectrum. I am very patient and an attentive listener, and I am good ad adapting to whatever individual needs your child may have.
