Before relocating I had my own in home licensed family childcare for 30 years. We cared for children from all backgrounds and learning abilities. I was also a nanny since 2022 for the same family where behavior guidance was consistent. Being well trained is important to me so I have over 500 training hours approved by dhs.
My experience with special needs children...
In childcare I have been able to teach children diagnosed will all of the following: EBD,ADD,ADHD, low muscle tone, ASD, and hearing impaired and non verbal. Though children had diagnoses creatively finding a way for inclusion was my niche. I've had a non verbal come to care with me and start kindergarten not only speaking but also reading.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I have so many favorite nanny moments but one that comes to mind right now is when I left. When I moved the letters and pictures the child wrote me were the best. A 10 year old wrote, " why Thandi is the beat nanny she is kind she is patient and she laughs a lot."
