My experience with special needs children...
I have experience working with a child with special needs, and it taught me how important patience, understanding, and communication are when caring for children. I learned that every child has different needs, routines, and ways of expressing themselves. I focused on creating a safe and comfortable environment, being patient with them, and making sure they felt included and supported. I really enjoyed building a trusting relationship with the child and seeing their personality come through. This experience made me even more interested in working with children and taught me to always treat every child with kindness, respect, and understanding.
The most important part about being a nanny...
One time, I was watching a little kid who was determined to “help” me clean up. I gave them a small job, thinking they would be excited to help. A few minutes later, I looked over and realized they had decided that EVERYTHING needed to be cleaned—including their toys, their stuffed animals, and somehow even my shoes.
When I asked what they were doing, they looked at me so seriously and said, “I’m helping you!” I couldn’t even be mad because they were so proud of themselves. It reminded me that working with kids can be unpredictable, but those funny little moments are exactly what makes it so enjoyable.
