Despite being told she would never communicate, she fought tirelessly for her rights. After years of advocating for her needs, I had the privilege of witnessing her mother’s tears of joy as her daughter successfully communicated using an iPad, writing her name and expressing her basic needs after nine years of being in a diaper. This transformative experience of witnessing a mother connect with her child for the first time profoundly impacted me and reaffirmed my passion for supporting individuals with special needs.
