I think the most important part of being a nanny is helping the child reach their full potential. To support them and guide them through various stages of life. For example homework, basic skills, and more. It's also important to me to be someone they could be comfortable with, be able to ask me for help or support. I strongly believe that nannying and babysitting is a learning experience for both parties.

In high school I babysat a boy with high functioning autism. I have also babysat children with delayed development (speaking). I worked with both of them on basic skills and were catering to their needs.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I gave one of the kids I was sitting (age 2) a cheese danish. I went to grab a wet wipe for 2 seconds and I came back to find the cheese danish in his hair. While I could've been mad or frustrated, I couldn't help but laugh because he was very proud of himself. We both giggled then I cleaned his hair.
