A little bit about me

Hi! My name is Trinity, though most people call me Red. I love hanging out and helping out with kids. I'm no stranger to messes and don't mind cleaning up around the house if its asked of me. I'm also no stranger to pets and would love to help take care of the fur-kiddos while I'm around too. I'm currently in my first year of college as a psychology major, and as cliche as it sounds, I have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge with others so I'm always open to homework help as well. I can be a tad goofy though, especially when a really good song starts playing because everybody really does need to have a dance party every now and then.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I really enjoy sitting down to draw and/or read with kids. I even enjoy baking with the help of the little ones. I've always been a big lover of playing tag and hide and seek both inside and outside, though I tend to keep tag outside as running in the house isn't really the best thing. Probably my favorite thing to do with kids though would be to help them learn in a situation where they don't resent the idea of being taught. I really enjoy teaching kids those small little things they can do on their own, like tying their own shoes or even just folding clothes, so they learn how to do these things on their own and can have those little moments of self pride every time they do them, because hey, who didn't go "Mom I did it!" when they tied their shoes for the first time. And most of these things transfer over to kids that are a little older. Although, I think I would probably teach an older kid about cooking an easy meal out of whats in the pantry, rather than how to tie their shoes.

My experience with special needs children...

While I have not spent a lot of time giving one on one care to special tends children, I grew up, and am still growing up to be honest, with my own sorts of these kinds of issues. I was diagnosed with high functioning autism when I was about 13 and thought I never thought much of it, it always made understanding what the specials needs kids were going through easier. Even before I was diagnosed. Having high functioning autism has allowed me to have a kind of insight into what some of these kids go through and how hard it can be for them to communicate things. More than anything, it's taught me patience, not just with others, but with myself. Life is a learning curve and I am by no means perfect, but I do hope that between my diagnosis and my studies that I can better understand special needs children and give them all the extra care and support they may need.
