A little bit about me

Hi, my name is Tristen, and I have been working with children since I was in high school (2016). I took an Early Childhood Education class for 2 years at Live Oaks. I have worked for KinderCare for 7 years and am currently on my second year at a HeadStart program. I have experience working with all ages but prefer preschool on up. I have three children of my own, Christopher who is 7, Lenyx who is 6, and Thiri who is 5 months old! I love working with children because I feel like I am helping my community from the very beginning! My role is very important because I am shaping young minds! I am certified in CPR/First Aid, have ongoing trainings with my employer, and I am always eager to keep educating myself on the new policies and best teaching practices outside of work. 2 years of ECE classes at Live Oaks Vocational School, 7 years of childcare at KinderCare Learning Center, and going on 2 years at CAA Life Learning Center HeadStart Program, and experience babysitting family members since I was 11 years old.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I enjoy taking children on walks, to the park, to the zoo, and to places like trampoline parks. I enjoy doing crafts such as painting, coloring, Play-Doh, etc. I also enjoy dancing and singing along to kid friendly music, reading books, and pretend play. I really enjoy teaching about colors, shapes, some words in Spanish, fine-motor and gross-motor skills, and science/mathematical/social studies concepts such as patterns, experiments, sense of self, and community.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe the most important part about being a nanny is the bond you create with not only the family, but the child/ren too! Not everyone is a good fit for their family, but when you find that person/s, it just makes everything else seem less scary! A child HAS to feel safe and welcome FIRST, in order to thrive in a learning environment.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I have enjoyed all my time spent with children, but my all time favorite is where I can be child like with them! I enjoy being able to get on their level and interact with materials in the way they do. I love being able to look through lense of what play is!
