My favorite part about being a nanny was when I discovered that one of the tweens I cared for was experiencing panic attacks. She didn’t fully understand what was happening, but I had experienced them myself, so I knew the signs. I approached her with a warm hug, letting her know she was safe and that everything would be okay. I showed her some techniques to manage her emotions and help her feel better. She started crying and opened up to me, and I just hugged her back. I could totally relate to her, and we became really close friends that day. Even though it’s been a while, I still remember her fondly.
