Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
Right after high school I got a job as a teachers assistant at a Preschool. I worked there for a couple of years then took another job offer at a private school. I loved teaching and almost every other aspect of being a teachers assistant, but decided teaching wasn’t for me because of the pay and the ton of “homework” that took hours of my time with no pay. I took a few jobs as a Nanny, loved every minute of it, but eventually enrolled in Dental Assistant School. When I had to shadow however many hours before graduating I decided I wanted to shadow at a Pediatric office. I had the opportunity to shadow at an amazing Pediatric office and was offered a job there before graduating. I’ve worked with children for many years as a dental assistant and therefore am CPR certified. My youngest baby and only girl is special needs. I’ve recently come to the conclusion I need to pursue a more flexible career/job so I have the available free time to take her to any/all of her doctors visits.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I absolutely love just talking to children. Their little brains working so hard and retaining so much. They often say the silliest, sweetest, sometimes incredibly clever things. Laughing in general is one of my favorite things, but laughing with children is the best! Their giggles and chuckles crack me up. Teaching them knew things and watching them succeeding and being so happy and proud of themselves gives me all the feels! Discovering new things together, adventures to new places, days on the beach, bike rides, arts n crafts, dancing, cooking, baking, and of course making slime 😆 are always fun with the kids! They’re certainly a handful, but their smiling faces, innocence and pure hearts make it every bit of worth it.
The most important part about being a nanny...
There are many important parts when it comes to being a Nanny. Being responsible for the life, care, and well being of another parents child is no joke! Gaining the trust, acceptance, and heart of not only the parent, but the children too is super important to me.
My experience with special needs children...
Not only have I taught a few and had several patients with special needs, but my daughter is special needs as well. My daughter is epileptic (although her seizures have been absent/under control since Aug. 3, 2017. Thank God!) She’s also gtube fed, has two congenital heart defects, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and globally delayed. She’s the sweetest, happiest, prettiest princess warrior through, I’m so blessed. My daughter receives in home healthcare … if you’re wondering how in the World I’m able to work. 😆
The most important part about being a nanny...
Hmm…. a boy I use to watch loved me so much he gifted me with a paper weight that looked like a giant diamond ring. 😆 I still have it! 🥰
