A little bit about me

Hello! My name is Tori. I am 24 and a graduate of Florida State University with a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience with a minor in Chemistry. I plan to attend graduate school for pediatric nursing. I have been working with families professionally through care for about 6 years now. I am CRP and First-Aid certified.

I love working with kids and I am a child at heart! I love playing games, arts and crafts, adventuring and getting to know the kids I work with! I also believe that it is important for me to carry on the way each parent runs their home when I am welcomed in. I make sure to get a detailed run down of anything important and I keep in touch with the parents if there are any issues that need immediate attention.

I love animals. I have 2 dogs myself, a German Shepard puppy and a pit/boxer/lab mix. I am allergic to cats but if there is space where the cat does not spend time I am typically okay to be in the environment. Thank you for your time and I hope to hear back from you!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have worked with many families for about 6 years now. I began with care and I have met so many wonderful families over the years. I I’ve provided care for all ages ranging from 2 months-13 years. I worked in a daycare as a co-teacher of their infant room where my co-teacher and I cared for 6 children all under the age of one. I have also worked with different organizations providing care in larger groups such as child daycare while the parents are at church, the gym, or any other time they requested our services.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love to do many things with kids! Depending on their age we may do things like play board games, do puzzles, paint/color pictures, complete little science experiment kits they have, read books, dance to music, play hide and seek, kick a ball around outside, go down slides together or swing on swings.

The most important part about being a nanny...

The most important part of being a nanny is making sure that the kids are both safe and happy. I know I am doing my job right when the parents aren't having to be worried about their child throughout the day. Accidents happen and every parent understands that but keeping their child out of serious danger is expected. Parents should not only have to not worry that their child is physically okay but that they are emotionally and mentally okay. There are exceptions to this but being able to have the kids enjoying their days and the person they spend so much time with is important for the parents that way they know they can come check in whenever and see their little one smiling or learned something new!

My experience with special needs children...

I have cared for children who had medium-high functioning autism.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny moment has to be the first time I experienced a child take her first steps! We had been practicing walking for weeks prior and she was so close to doing it and then one morning she wanted the snack I was holding in my hand and as I turned around to look at her she stood up and took her first several steps to me and then wobbled to the floor. It was so special and I am forever going to remember that feeling. The best part was that the mom just happened to be downstairs with us at that moment so she didnt miss a thing!
