A little bit about me

I am a 16 year old junior in high school. I have been homeschooled for the last two years. I have been a nanny to two wonderful family’s and babysat for many wonderful people. I have taken care of kids ranging from newborn to 12 years old. I prefer taking care of babies (newborn to 1.5) due to the fact I have more experience but I’m more than willing to take care of kids under the age of 8. I have my own car and love taking kids to parks and playing with them. I am able to cook a variety of things. I have experience with medical problems and can accommodate easily. I started babysitting when I was 13 and have been doing it since. I am a hard worker and willing to help out with just about anything!

More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I volunteered at a daycare on a military base. I would put on music and dance with the kids to pop songs.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I love taking the kids I'm taking care of to the park I loved to go to when I was little. after I take them to the park I usually get them some cold sweet treat and water to help them cool off. I also love going to the pool on hot days. I have been swimming with kids as young as 2 months old. I never go where I can't stand for their safety unless they can swim unassisted. If I can't leave with the kid I would go outside and play with chalk, play tag, and any other games we can think of. if we can't go outside I would put on some quiet music and play with toys, I would also include them on making lunch.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I personally thing that the most important things about being a nanny is connecting with the family so not only the child I am taking care of feels comfortable but the parents feel comfortable with me taking care of their kid. Building a relationship with the parents also helps show the kid they can feel safe around me. I always watch how the kid is feeling and adjust what I'm doing until we figure out a routine that works good for both of us. I feel like being a nanny is all about helping the parents feel less stress about daycare prices and having to work around daycare times, I always try to work with the parents so they can have more free time if they want.

My experience with special needs children...

I personally have autism and so does a few of the kids I have taken care of. I have watched my best friends sister who has epilepsy and helped her through over 30 seizures, I know what to do with seizures because my uncle also has epilepsy and he lived with my grandma that took care of me while my mom was at work. I have been a nanny to nonverbal kids, only a few knew simple baby sign language. I have worked with almost all adhd kids who get overstimulated and some who need extra stimulation.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite nanny memory is when I was playing with a 4 year old and 6 month old at the park and when we got back they both needed a nap so we agreed on a show. I put the baby to sleep and sat on the couch with them and the toddler cuddled up to me and looked up at me and told me she had a great day and that she was happy I was there. That day was the day I fell in love with babysitting.
