More About Me

Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...

I have a 18 month old granddaughter which I had the joy of caring for before moving out of state. This experience has allowed me to have recent hands on experience with caring for an infant /toddler.

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I believe outdoor activity is important whether it be a walk through the neighborhood or going to a playground , getting fresh air and sunlight is essential. The activity will be adjusted according to the child’s age and capabilities.

In door activities could be reading, puzzles, coloring, crafting , dancing. whatever the need and preference of the child and family.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I believe that the most important part of being a nanny is building a real, trusting connection with the kids and their family.

Trust is essential so the kids feel safe, supported, and ready to grow. I always try to be structured yet nurturing, but also flexible— because each day brings something different! Therefore, open communication with the parents is important to help us be on the same page. Above all, I focus on being present and paying attention to the kids’ emotional, physical, and educational needs, while making sure they have fun in a positive and structured environment.

My experience with special needs children...

As a former case manager for child services I had many cases with children with special needs. Part of my job was to assess the wellbeing of the children, part of the assessment is visual looking for any physical signs of maltreatment but the other part was through conversation; something that is almost impossible with a special needs child. Therefore , I focused on establishing rapport with the children so they could feel comfortable and safe around me. Slowly I was able to recognize their nonverbal cues and know what was normal behavior for them and when they’re off. Every child is different and responds differently to “outsiders” therefore, it’s important to be patient and genuine until the child feels safe. Also communicating with the parents and outside providers is imperative to provide quality care for each child individually.
