""Hiring Wendy was the best decision we have made for our family. Wendy approaches childcare with a level of intention, thoughtfulness, and professionalism that is truly exceptional. She does not simply supervise children — she actively plans their day with development in mind. She regularly creates hands-on activities, art projects, and developmentally appropriate toys that support fine motor skills, creativity, language development, and independent play. Many of the materials she makes herself, showing both initiative and a deep understanding of how young children learn best through play and exploration. She is also excellent at communicating with parents. She is respectful, clear, and proactive in sharing updates, and she builds trust easily with families. As a parent, I have always felt completely confident knowing that my children are safe, well cared for, and positively guided when they are with her. ""

"Wendy is extremely hard working and dedicated to caring for not only the children but the family. She was a coworker and the teacher to my 2 oldest children as infants and toddlers and now for all 3 on a weekly basis. We trust and value Wendy immensely and know she will care for our children as her own while doing amazing activities including sensory activities, singing/music, art, walks & nature play, gross motor and fine motor activities. My children feel safe, loved, and learn in ways that are fun and engaging."

More About Me
Relevant experience where I also cared for children were...
I have worked at Kindercare, HeadStart, The Centers for Families and Children, The Nest and a few small centers in California. I also taught Kindergarten in the public school system. I have been a nanny for the past 3 years.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I'm really into sensory activities and arts and crafts with children. Anything that the children (including infants) can learn from using any and all of their senses is how I spend most of my day with children. Whether it is doing cheerio sand, ice painting, fruit mash, a nature walk to collect items to make a collage, splashing in a rainy day puddle or making snow angels as long as the children are engaged and learning is key.
The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny is being a good listener. Listening to what the families needs are and then being able to put your skills into action independently is key to a healthy and successful working relationship.
Also listening to the children's individual needs and helping them process through their emotions.

My experience with special needs children...
Two of my own children have been diagnosed with Aspergers. I have a tremendous amount of patience with special needs children and children in general. In various classrooms throughout my years of teaching I have encountered children on various levels of the autism spectrum, children with Down Syndrome, children in wheelchairs for various reasons, children with allergies and asthma, and children with missing limbs. I am able to make accommodations in my teaching style to be sure that these children learn as well as typical children.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment has been when my nanny boys put on a show each year on the anniversary of my start date with them. The boys showcase to the parents everything they have learned through the year (examples are a getting dressed race where they show the parents that they now know how to dress themselves without help, a manners skit where the kids eat a little snack to show the parents their cup and fork skills along with table manners, and our favorite getting messy with paint in the yard to show their creativity and clean up skills). We also take pictures all year long and present a photo album to the parents. It chronicles their growth during the past year and development of skills through fun activities. The kids are always so proud to show off how far they have come in the past years.
A single activity that has been my favorite is taking a nature walk through the MetroParks, seeing the joy on the children's faces as they collect natural items and to turn into crafts.

Hi there, I’m Amanda! I graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University with a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies. I have babysat and nannied, most of my life, and have spent over 6 years in the health care industry. I absolutely love helping kids reach their potential and helping those in need. I love animals and having fun in the outdoors (screen time breaks!), but I also have a meticulous attention to detail and high sense of urgency when it comes to appointments and schedules. I’d love for you to reach out if you feel like we’d be a good fit so I can meet the kiddos and get an understanding of your families needs!
