A little bit about me

After having been a substitute teacher for a year and working with the children's program at my church, I can say that I have deeply adored working with children. It has been an enjoyable experience to be able to help a hand to guide our future generation. However, I do understand sometimes a firm hand is needed when speaking with children to understand the morals we must uphold. There is a line, as an adult, that we must keep being able to be a friend and confidant to a child and be a guide and discipline. While I am new to being a nanny, I have had a hand in raising three of my younger siblings and teaching. To be in this field I believe that you need to have both the physical and emotional ability to be there for any child and offer comfort while being there to keep them safe.

Indoor I am a huge fan of exploring creativity and like to look for arts and crafts that can be shared. If the child has a favorite book or show I want to try and research as much as I can to engage with them as much as possible. Outside is so vast I find that giving children the chance to catalog and see the change of life is very important.

Being a nanny is both protection and care of the child. To not fill the role of the parents but to assist where it is needed. I believe the most vital point is to be an assistant to the parents so they know their children are safe and can feel comfortable knowing their little one is in good hands.

The most important part about being a nanny...

While watching a 3-year-old for a single working mother, the child came to me and asked for us to make a gift for her momma. This child was very well-spoken for being so young so we took the time to make a video for her mom. We went through all her favorite things about her mother, showing her spots in the house that held a dear memory of the two of them. When editing the video together she added her flares and such. When presenting to the mom, she cried and said later that night how worried she was that she would not be able to have such an impact on her child's life. Thank me for helping with the video, I find that being able to give the parents any part of the day that I share with their children is the best moment.
