The most important part about being a nanny in my opinion is safety, boundaries, expectations, that they're all met and clearly communicated. The last thing I would ever want is confusion in any sort. Thus communication is key to being a nanny as well.
My experience with special needs children...
I have babysat long term for a special needs child. I find that a routine is nonnegotiable for children, but especially for special needs children. Once we have a routine going it's a much better experience for both the child and me. Though I only have long term experience with a child with level 3 autism.
