The most important part about being a nanny...
The most important part about being a nanny: Making sure the children I care for are well cared for, loved, and safe. Keeping up with safe routines in the home (childproofing, supervision, safe play). Helping with feeding, hydration, hygiene, and bedtime routines. Creating a calm, welcoming environment where kids feel understood and supported. Communication with parents: Sharing daily updates, being honest, and asking questions so I can meet each child’s needs. Following predictable schedules that help children feel secure and behave better. Treating children with kindness, listening to them, and guiding them positively. Encouraging learning and play that matches each child’s stage and abilities. Maintaining basics like tidy spaces, proper sleep setups, and keeping activities safe. Knowing what to do if something happens and staying attentive at all times.
The most important part about being a nanny...
My favorite nanny moment: Seeing a child learn something new that I have helped teach them. Watching them grow in confidence, first try, then suddenly when they say “I can do it!” Celebrating small milestones (using new words, finishing a puzzle, mastering a routine). When the kids hug me and show they feel safe and loved. Returning the love by being warm, patient, and attentive. Building trust so they come to me for comfort and help.
Sharing an activity that turns into a great experience for them. Reading their favorite story again and again because they’re excited. Seeing them enjoy outdoor time. Helping them do things for themselves. Learning to feed themselves, get dressed, brush teeth, or follow simple steps. Encouraging them with praise and positive reinforcement.
Using calm guidance and routines so they feel secure. Helping them reset and try again. When they share something with me, something they made, found, or discovered. Their excitement reminds me why I love this work.

Hi! My name is Sage, and I’m a recent graduate of Emerson College, where I studied Journalism and Political Science. I’ve been working with children since I was 16, beginning as a full-time nanny and then worked for three summers at a day camp with children ages 4–12. I’ve also worked as a preschool teacher’s assistant during the school year, giving me experience caring for children across a wide range of ages and needs! Throughout my childcare experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many children with disabilities, including children with autism. I’ve learned that every child is different, and I prioritize getting to know each child as an individuals so I can create an environment where they feel safe, supported, and understood. I bring a patient, empathetic, and energetic approach to childcare and believe in using positive reinforcement, clear communication, and plenty of encouragement. I'm happy to provide several references!
