Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I like to choose activities depending on the child that aid in age-appropriate development. For example I do a lot of sensory and fine motor skill activities with babies and young toddlers, activities involving speech like singalongs as well as numbers, letters, and colors for kids under four, and science experiments/language skill building activities for older children. For all ages I like to do activities that build emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and social skills.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the most important part of nannying is a genuine love for children. I’ve never worked in any other profession, and I can’t imagine it. Nothing can beat the joy I feel when working with kids.

My experience with special needs children...

I’ve worked with kids diagnosed with adhd, fetal alcohol syndrome, and traumatic brain injury with fetal alcohol syndrome. The child with adhd was a young boy, he just needed extra support when it came to finishing schoolwork and staying focused. The children with fetal alcohol syndrome were siblings, a 4 year old girl and an 11 year old boy who had also suffered a traumatic brain injury at the age of 2. They both needed extra special attention when it came to speech, motor skills, behavior, grasp of language, and meetings basic milestones. They showed a great improvement under my care, they had suffered due to their parents neglect.
