A little bit about me

Hello! I am recent graduate from LIU where I was also a D1 athlete. I have experience caring for children from 6 months to 12 years old. I have been babysitting for 12 years and nannied in 2020 before schools reopened and I returned to a full time student. I love spending time outside and being active with kids. I also love doing crafts or baking. I also love working with kids and have spent 3 summers working as a camp counselor!

Activities I enjoy doing with children...

I am a former athlete so I love being outside and playing sports with kids. I believe getting outside is very important so going on walks to the park is one of my favorite activities. I also enjoy crafts and have taught several elementary school level craft classes. One of my personal hobbies is baking. In the past I have baked cupcakes, cookies, and breads with the children I work with.

The most important part about being a nanny...

I think the children being able to grow and explore in a safe space. Safety is obviously my main concern always, but it is important to me that the children are gaining experiences while I am with them.

My experience with special needs children...

I have worked in the past in a Special Education classroom. I am a strong communicator and love to get kids out of their shell. I also have volunteered for years to work as a buddy or partner for special needs students who participate in our county's special olympic events. I grew up with a family friend and cousin both with Down Syndrome so I have always been involved and held a special place in my heart for special needs.

The most important part about being a nanny...

My favorite moment as a nanny was probably with the last family I worked full time for. It was 3 children, twin 1 year olds and a 2 year old, who had just moved from China due to the pandemic. I was with them for the summer and we were to have fun while also working on teaching them some more English. Their house was in a path of a lot of helicopters and I think their first true English word they recognized was helicopter because we saw them so much. It was so cute watching them (try to) say it and get all excited when they would pass. Also funny seeing their parents reaction to them catching onto the word helicopter when our colors were still a little mixed up.
