I currently work through Arizona Autism where I care for children with special needs. I work with children with different behaviors and am accustomed to a variety of preventative techniques.
Activities I enjoy doing with children...
I am willing to do most anything that the child wants, if they need some space to relax then we can wind down with a movie, if they have a lot of energy then we can go run it off at the park! I love learning about children's interests and being at their pace.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think it is so important to stay at the pace of the children we work with. I. want them to have goals, no matter how small, but never force them to get there. They deserve to have someone listen to them, acknowledge them, and at the very least try to understand them.
My experience with special needs children...
I work with Arizona Autism and am currently paired with two different families, and provide for 3 different children. They have different behaviors I have learned to prevent or redirect, from turning violent. I also drive 2 of them to school and am used to certain behaviors occurring in the car.
The most important part about being a nanny...
I think there is so much hope for children to be our future, including those with special needs. I love watching them grow and experience new things.
