Hello there,
We are a family of 6 (Mom, Dad, 6 years old, 8 years old, 14 years old, and 17 years old), living in McLean VA, in desperate need of a nanny, mainly focused on our two younger children, ASAP. To summarize, we would like an afternoon care nanny that can pick them up, organize their stuff and room, work with them with homework and activities that stimulate their brain, and take them to their activities/appointments. And if possible to do a split shift we would also like someone that can assist us with the morning routine of waking them up, getting them ready for school, and dropping them off. But if not just afternoon care works!

I am a high school librarian and moving to the area this summer. My daughter will most likely have a short preschool setting situation two days a week, for two hours each of those days. KC is a very happy and lovely child with some fairly serious developmental disabilities operating at a fifth or sixth grade level. She has a great attitude and is quite a ham, entertaining us often with her fashion shows. She is the daughter of my sister who has mild mental retardation but is very high functioning and works as a child care worker. KC is currently enrolled at a wonderful private school and is doing well but is not anywhere near her peers in her studies. Our family consists of my father (83), my sister (49), myself (51), and KC (14). We spend a lot of time together and I usually take KC on the weekends. KC and my sister Cindy live in their own house and my father and I live in another home about a mile away from each other. KC is very high functioning but needs to be taught life skills and independent living. She loves cooking with me and taking care of our plants but it would be wonderful if someone looking after her could help her develop other interests and improve her academic skills.
The individual looking after her would work 40 hours a week and help prepare meals, do the shopping, pick up and drop off KC from school and take KC on adventures and to cultural institutions. A car could be provided.
