Hello everyone! My name is Payton and I am 19 years old and I am going into my sophomore year at the University of Minnesota this fall! I am looking for a afternoon/evening nannying or babysitting position in Minneapolis or surrounding suburbs area starting for the fall. I have about 8 years of experience with children ranging from newborn-preteen/teen. I am comfortable driving children around for fun activities and/or pick-ups/drop-offs. I absolutely love kids and have a very nurturing and loving personality. To this day, I still carry everlasting memories with my favorite babysitters and look forward to doing the same with your children!

A little bit about me

Hi, I'm Lys. I am a college student looking for a family in need of a part-time after-school nanny! I have worked in childcare for 3 years, from infants to adolescents. I am CPR certified as well as musically well-rounded. I am in Undergrad at the University of Minnesota, studying a double major in Developmental Psychology and Applied Statistics, as well as a minor in Spanish. Childcare has influenced my career path so heavily, and I am so grateful for my experiences with each child and every family, as they have changed who I am today. I am so excited to be entering my sophomore year of college, as well as entering this new chapter of nannying.

What Is an After-School Nanny?

An after-school nanny cares for school-age children on weekday afternoons, usually from school pickup until a parent gets home. It is a part-time role with a regular schedule, which suits nannies who want a consistent shorter day.

Common Responsibilities of After-School Nannies in Minneapolis, MN

After-school nannies pick up children from school or the bus stop, give them a snack, and help with homework. They also take children to activities and lessons, supervise play, and may prepare dinner or tidy up after the children before a parent arrives.

What to Consider Before You Hire

Share your school's dismissal time, the days you need care, and how you will handle early dismissals, holidays, and school breaks. Confirm whether you need the nanny to drive, and whether they would be comfortable transporting several children. A regular schedule makes it easier to find a good fit.

After-School Nanny Interview Questions

Once you find a promising candidate, invite them for an interview to see if they would be a great fit for your family. Here are some questions you can ask:

  • Are you available at our school's dismissal time every weekday?
  • Do you have a car, and are you comfortable driving children to activities?
  • How would you handle homework and screen time?
  • What would you do if a child was sick or hurt?
  • Do you have experience with school-age children?

At this stage, request their references and ask their references some questions. After preparing the job offer or contract, we recommend that you run a background check before the start date.
