A little bit about me

I love working with children because every day is a new adventure. I enjoy helping them learn new and fun ways to grow in this big world. I feel in love with this back in high school when I I took a class called ROP
I am looking for a family just starting out. I have knowledge in creating an enriched environment and providing fun opportunities for growth and cognitive development. I encourage reading and love to be outdoors and I’m known to plan creative activities to meet the interest and needs of children around me. Great with all animals.

A little bit about me

I do not have much experience in this industry. The only times I’ve looked after children are my family member’s kids. I love working with kids because they are so fearless and enjoyable to be around.

A little bit about me

I come from a huge family (I'm the oldest of five boys), lots of cousins and extended family created an environment where I was always around kids and taking care of someone! I have a bachelors of science in psychology and am a registered behavior technician. I have spent the past year ,after graduating from the College of Charleston, working in a clinic setting, conducting applied behavior analysis sessions with children who have a diagnosis of autism. I just recently moved to San Diego and want to continue working with children here!

A little bit about me

Hi I'm Nadia,

I am a mom to two kittens (almost 3 whole years !! ) & am one of 7 children in my family. I am the first girl born which quickly equated to "mom's helper" to my older brothers when it came to making lunches, and changing diapers when it came to my younger siblings. I have had many babysitting experiences, and have worked with newborn infants to 13-14 year olds. Crafts, excursions, & imaginative play are some of my favorite activities.

I used work at a Boys & Girls club as a youth development leader during summers. My class ranged from 36-45 K-1st graders (IT WAS ALOT OF YOUNGSTERS & FUN) which is the age I have had most experience with and I favor. I mean who doesn't favor those adorable toddler years when their personality is really coming out, and every word out of their mouth is pure comedy. We were a collaborative staff which meant I did get the opportunity to work with all the kids who are enrolled in the club at times. I planed activities & worked to make each day an enjoyable one for everyone.

I absolutely love working with kids, I've realized they often teach us much more about ourselves than we could ever teach them, and it's important that every interaction they have with adults, should be positive to help them grow and develop with confidence. I have a huge passion for the way our mind develops and I strive to be a behavioral neuroscientist, for me babysitting has opened my eyes to see how different every child's home life is. The experiences each child has in their home shapes them for who they become as adults. I am extremely proud to get the chance to be a part of so many lives.

How to Find a Babysitter in San Diego, CA

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in San Diego, CA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in San Diego can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

San Diego Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in California?
  • Do you have a California driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
