A little bit about me

Hi! I am a student at UGA who misses working with kids everyday and is looking for a part-time nannying position. I have worked in a childcare center for almost 2 years before I went off to college, and I had been babysitting for about 2 years before that and have continued to babysit here and there since I have been in Athens. I am CPR and First Aid certified with a car and clean driving record. Please feel free to reach out if you think I could be a good fit for your family!!

A little bit about me

Hi. I'm Nina. I'm 31 years old. I graduated high school with my Certified Nursing Assistant degree. I have 2 years of experience as a nanny, 6 months experience as a live in caregiver and 1 year experience as a housekeeper.

I love arts and crafts, swimming playing cards and board games and I love to read. Your little one will hopefully never be bored in my capable hands.

As a nanny, I also had to cook and clean, laundry, dishes, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, you know, all that fun stuff. When I started the baby was 6 weeks old and He loved me to pieces. He followed me everywhere and on my off days, he would come to my door and bang on it and if I came out of my room, he would crawl up to me, grab onto me and he would pull himself up, grabbing my pants leg until I picked him up. A lot of the time, the husband would end up asking me to watch him for a few hours because he just wouldn't stay away from my door. The 6 year old loved me, too. But he was in school when I started so I didn't get to spend as much time with him as I did the baby.

I was also a live-in caregiver. I did that for 6 months. That involved housekeeping; vacuuming, moping, sweeping, dusting, cleaning hardwood floors, laundry. All that fun stuff. As well as assisting with bathing, grooming and general hygiene. He was a 70 year old stroke victim that lost the use of his left side.

My availability is pretty open. I might be open to a temporary live-in thing and by temporary I mean, I'm there through the week when I have to work, but if I'm off on the weekends, I'll go to my boyfriends and stay, then return to work that following Monday and stay til Friday. If that would be something that could be worked with.

Well, I think I've rambled on long enough.

A little bit about me

I recently just moved to the Athens area, starting an internship with SWAT Ministries. I am driven to get up each day to be in community with people. I have had tons of experience babysitting and nannying for different families. I love interacting with kids and seeing a smile on their face, which brings one to mine. My availability at the moment is babysitting. My work schedule right now is flexible, so I either have mornings or nights open.

A little bit about me

Hello.
It’s always been my dream to be a teacher or to open up my own daycare. I was in school for early childhood when COVID hit in 2020. Kids are my #1 priority so unfortunately I had to put it on hold to keep my kids who I nanny safe. I have experience 2+ years and would like to continue since I relocated. I grew up babysitting my sibling.
I have no kids but I absolutely love spoiling other people kids like my own. They are uplifting & loving.

How to Find a Babysitter in Athens, GA

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Athens, GA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Athens can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Athens Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Georgia?
  • Do you have a Georgia driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
