I am currently finishing up my early childhood education degree, with a concentration in infant and toddler education and care. I love not only caring for young children, but using interactions during everyday routines as opportunities to support children's learning and development!

Hi,
My name is Jeanne, and I had an
opportunity to switch careers back in 2010 and decided to pursue a career with children. Since then I have taken care of 3 families, and 1 girl occasionally for baby sitting.
The first child was a 7 year old girl.
I went to her home before school,
brought her to the bus stop and picked her up from school and brought her back to my home.
We did a variety of activities after
homework was completed.
We played imagitive games, played
with dolls, watched American Girl
movies, read, made up some silly games, and took her to Girl Scouts,
and dance classes.

The 2nd position was with a 4 year
old boy, who I brought to school and picked up. I took care of him when sick and on days off.
We practiced his alphabet, played with his white board, went to a
childrens' museutm, played pretend, and went to the library.

The 3rd position was with a 6 year old girl and her 3 month old sister.
I took the 6 year older to school in
morning and picked her up.
We sang songs, did arts and crafts,
read books, played games, played outside with sidewalk chalk, went to the local pool in the summer,
and took her to her activities and
play dates.
The 3 month old I had most of the
day. We went on long walks, read,
sang songs, went to story hours at
various libraries, blew bubbles,
went to the zoo, the playground,
play centers for toddlers, took her
outside to ride her riding toys, went to Outdoor World to see the wild
stuffed animals, and the live animals, went to the aquirium with
both girls.
Also did meal preparation, family's
laundry, vacumn, dusted, organized, cleaned bathrooms, , ran errans, pet care, and all of infant/toddler basic needs including bathing.
Occasional night time sitting also.

I was born into a family of seven kids, and I am an aunt to five children under 7 years old. I've worked with kids through nanny jobs, babysitting jobs, camp counselor positions, Vacation Bible School, and tutoring. I am studying to become an English teacher as well. I hope to hear from you!

I grew up babysitting younger family members and other younger children in my neighborhood. I was a full time nanny for a family with 2 children for 2 years. When I started with them, the children's ages were 2 months and 8 years. When they no longer needed full time care, I became a teacher in a toddler classroom at xx in Framingham, MA. The toddler classroom had 18 toddlers that ranged in age from 15 months to 2 years old. When I relocated to VA, I became a full time nanny again for a family with one young child and he was 5 months old when I started.

I worked for a daycare during high school for about 2 years. After I graduated, I became a nanny for a family with 2 kids (2&4 yrs) until the youngest began school. Then I nannied for another family of 2 (3mths & 9yrs). After about a year there, I got pregnant with my first child. Took about 2 weeks off then went back to work until I got pregnant with my second child. I was then a stay at home mom for the next few years. Since 2008, I have babysat after school/summers for a family with one child.

I have been babysitting since I was 12 years old. I taught swim lessons for four years and have just completed my second year of teaching third grade. My mother runs a daycare out of our home with which I help out. I have much experience with a wide range of ages, behavioral needs, and academic needs. Throughout the past 9 years, I have spent much time with children in different capacities and have cared for them in varying ways (babysitting, teaching, mentoring). I am comfortable with all age ranges and am flexible, fun, and enthusiastic!

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Franklin, MA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Franklin can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Franklin Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Massachusetts?
  • Do you have a Massachusetts driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
