I started working with children at 17. My first experience was working for a daycare center, and I worked there for two and a half years. I started as a floater, but then became a part-time teacher for K-2 and 3-year-old kids. I then went to another daycare and worked with 1 to 2-year-old children. I was working as a nanny for a family with two children, a 4 1/2-year-old and a 17-month-old. The family ended up moving July 8th, 2011, next worked with a little girl who was 4 and going on 5 when they moved back home. I recently was working for a family in Durham and they have a 5 year old boy, I started when he was 2 1/2. He will be starting school in August and will be going full-time. I think over all, I have 14 years of experience working with children. I am a 32 year old who is very loving, caring, responsible, patient and loves to grow a strong friendship with the family, especially with the child/children. I live in Franklinton and I have my own transportation. I ask $12-15 a hour depending if one, two or three children.

I am the 3 child in a family of 7. I have 4 younger brothers, an older brother and 1 older sister. My mother home-schooled all 7 of her children from 1 grade through high school. I have a very practical background in caring for my younger siblings as well as tutoring them while my mother was working. Most of the childcare experience I have acquired is through my church family growing up. I worked in the nursery regularly for about 4 yrs. from the time I was 16. During that time I was regularly called upon to baby-sit for my youth minister, pastor & music minister. I would like to mention that my youth minister had a 5 yr. old, twin 10 mo. old children and a newborn. I was asked to care for all 4 children a number of times.

I currently nanny for two families Monday-Thursday. In the morning I watch a 2-year-old boy. This includes serving breakfast, arts and crafts, walks, swimming supervision, learning stimulation (similar to tutoring, but very basic), and cleaning around the house. In the afternoons I watch a 4-year-old girl, and 18-month-old girl. This is very similar, also including walks, arts and crafts, and picking up around the house. Both of these nannying positions will be put on hold during the summer. After school care- I took two girls ages 8 & 12 to and from practice, when needed. I also assisted them with homework, fixed dinner, and helped clean around the house. Tutoring- For the past two years I've tutored a special needs boy, age 7. I live with a 4-month-old girl that I've lived with since her first fews days. I help take care of her everyday. This has been a great experience and taught me a lot about infants. I also have a lot of experience with weekend and evening babysitting jobs. Please let me know if you are interested in references.

I have experience working as a nanny with a three years old little boy. I also have worked in daycare with ages newborn through three years old. The class sizes were any where from 8 to 16. I have been CPR certified but just need to renew it. I have also taken several other classes through the daycare that I worked at.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Franklinton, NC

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Franklinton can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Franklinton Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in North Carolina?
  • Do you have a North Carolina driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
