I was an assistant to my Mother for 4 years from 2007-2011 at the daycare she owned and ran out of our house. I have babysat frequently. I have been a full time nanny for the past year.

I'm looking to nanny with my 9 month son. I'm reliable, soft spoken, and patient. Available Monday through Friday. My son and I enjoy music and walks to the parks and through our neighborhood. I have experience from a young age babysitting various ages and recent years helping out family members with their babies. Two cousins had twins two years apart so help was much needed. I also bought toys for an upscale baby boutique for 4 years. Very fun job and learned a lot about growing babies & toddlers. Also would love for my son to interact with a new friend as he is getting older so fast.

I have babysat kids in the past. I have helped my sister and brother-in-law with their children. When she had my youngest nephew I went and lived with her for a little while to help her out because she had a new born, an almost 2 year old and a 6 and 7 year old.

I have babysat children ever since I was a teenager. This included children of family friends and my niece and nephew. I also worked as a pre-school teacher at a local private school my first year out of college. I nannied for a 7, 12 and 16 year-old in a 6-month temporary position and have a wealth of experience with childcare from church ministry work (e.g. CCD, Vacation Bible School). Recently, I nannied for two families - one where I cared for an infant with special needs and the other with 3 children ages infant to 6-years old. I am currently a nanny for a family of 8 children, ages ranging from 4-19 years.

Hi! I've had several years of experience, and many different settings. Working with children at home, at school, and at Camp. I lived with my best friend and help her take care for children for several years. I have worked in preschools, and also have a good deal with experience working with children with special needs like autism. My special needs experience really helps me be great at staying really patient, and has taught me many different methods of teaching. I am also a yoga instructor, and have experience teaching children in that setting too. I love arts and crafts, sports, and having both fun and being educational at the same time.

I have been working with children on many different capacities for most of my life. For the past sixth months I have been a stay at home mom for my wonderful baby boy, Max. Prior to Max I have worked with 2 other families spanning over 4 years. The first family was the family and they had two boys that I care for. They were ages 5 and 3. I was with them during an up and down part of their lives. Their parents separated shortly before I came on to watch luckily they reconciled and their mom decided to stay home with them again. While with them my main responsibilities were to feed and dress them and get them off to school. On days when they did not have school we would fill our time doing activities outside of the house from the park in warmer weather to taking advantage of the many children’s activities in the area like the hands on house or bounce u. For the two years prior to being with the boys I had cared for a now 16 year old boy. I had been with the family since his mother passed away and left his family when I got married and moved. My responsibilities with Johnny included transportation, making dinner, light house hold chores, spending nights when his father was out of town, helping him with school work, and attending all his school and sport activities. Johnny and I have a great relationship and I was very sad to leave him. Luckily, we still talk often and he is still a big part of my life. During the summer months I watched two younger girls, 5 and 7, as well as spending time with Johnny, their parents are in a relationship. When yhey moved up to the area full time the younger out of the two was too young to attend kindergarten in Pennsylvania even though she was enrolled in Atlanta and I worked on lessons which included math, reading, time, and money. She was tested and has since skipped kindergarten and is now attending first grade. During the summer months the girls and I filled our days with fun activities and outings. I also helped the family with light house work, grocery shopping, and occasionally preparing meals. Some of my other work with children has been as a Sunday school teacher, Camp Counselor, Coach, Youth Group Leader, as well as having many cousins who I cared for when they were young! I am also currently taking night classes at Camden County to finish my education degree.

Gina was amazing with my nephew Bradley . He was 7 months at the time, she was with us for a month as we were very busy at this time and she was a great help, good problem solving, even cleaned our kitchen! Bradley was always happy with her singing and dancing. This was a big favor to us. Definitely recommended her to my family - Elvenie Desrosier

Valeria has a lot of patience, she is funny and manages to entertain the child even though he is moody. I certainly recommend her. - Sandra

She was always courteous, punctual, respectful and did her job correctly. As soon as she enters, she is ready to start her duty right away. My daughter was always excited to see her! We are still in touch with her for some occasional gigs! I highly recommend her. She is very passionate about school and helping others by always going above and beyond! Thank you! - Boureima

How to Find a Babysitter in Collingswood, NJ

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Collingswood, NJ

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Collingswood can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Collingswood Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in New Jersey?
  • Do you have a New Jersey driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
