Keirsten Collier

Hello,
My name is Keirsten Collier. I am 20 years old and I am a full time student at Gannon University. I have a work study job at college but I am looking to make a little bit of extra money.
I started working at a daycare when I was 18. It is required that I be CPR certified and have first aid training through the daycare in order for me to work there. I worked with kids off all ages ranging from 0-13. I have all my FBI and fingerprinting clearances, I have a car, and I do have my license. I am available during certain times in the morning as I am still in school and the majority of the time I am available after 4pm in the evenings. On weekends, I am available all day. I charge $10 dollars per child per hour, but I am willing to negotiate if reasonable. If you have any questions or are interested, please feel free to contact me at anytime, I am usually respond within the day.

Hello my name is Hanna!! I spent 3 1/2 years at Niagara University working towards my Early Childhood Education Degree. I was unable to finish for personal reasons. I have had tons of hands on experiences with children up to grade 6. I worked as a Lead Infant teacher for 7 months before moving back to Erie. I am currently a Lead Toddler Teacher. I am CPR,AED, and first aid certified. I am a certified mandated reported, and have had all my clearances done through work and can provide proof of everything upon request. I am super creative and love doing arts and crafts!! Being a Toddler and Infant teacher provided me the many skills I believe would be beneficial in caring for kids in a nanny type setting. I have my own car that's super reliable and can take your kids to the park, zoo, walks, and anywhere they might want to go! (:

I am currently a student majoring in Exercise Science (hoping to go Pre-Med with it) at a university in Nashville, TN - but with the costs of college and living in the city, I decided to take a break from my studies to work and save in order to finish my final two years. That being said - I am BLS, ACLS, and PALS certified, as well as Self-Defense certified, so I can promise that your child(ren) will be in good hands!

I have spent the majority of my life working with children of all ages, with history in both babysitter and nanny positions; as well as an additional nine years as a Martial Arts Instructor to students through private and group (30+ children) lessons.

My unique childcare experience has blessed me with the opprotunity to become involved in the lives of children from all walks of life - to be someone they can look up to, while also being their friend.

Christina Nickson

Well to start off I'd like to say that I've been taking care of children since a very young age. I started babysitting my brothers, sister & younger cousins since I was at the age 13. Even though I kept a full time job and was going to school full time, I still managed to make extra money still looking after my little cousins, nieces, nephews & kids in the neighborhood. I love kids and they love me. All the kids in the neighborhood call me Aunt Christina & the parents in my neighborhood have a tendency to refer to me as big Mama of the neighborhood even though I'm only 37yrs old. In 2015 I got certified through CCIS to babysit/ run my own mini daycare. I was working through CCIS getting paid for some of the children I was watching and other families paid me out of pocket on a contract. My daily duties were changing diapers, preparing breakfast, lunch & dinners, administering medications, teaching pre-k curriculum, picking up children from school, doing home work and supervising all children activity. I took the kids on trips to kids museum, the park and the library. My husband and I do not have any children yet and one day hopefully God will bless us with a family of our own. I come from a very large family and am very family oriented. Thank you for taking the time to read a small description about myself and why I think I'd be a great nanny for you and your family.

Madison W.

Madison is extremely trustworthy; I never worried about the safety of my children when they were with her. She was always patient with my children and I can not remember one time in her years with us that I saw her lose her cool. She always respected the children, yet was able to discipline them appropriately when needed - Katie Geer

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Erie, PA

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Erie can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Erie Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Pennsylvania?
  • Do you have a Pennsylvania driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
