A little bit about me

I am a playful attentive nanny and childcare provider. I have worked in several daycare facilities as well as after-school programs, my favorite being Montessori. I graduated from the College of Charleston, studying Psychology with a concentration in Lifespan development as well as African American studies. I have worked as a private nanny for last 7 years and I am currently a certified doula. I also have experience working with neurodivergent children and their care plans. My previous experiences working with children have taught me forgiveness, selflessness, compassion, and grace. I love working with children to see their capacity to give and how limitless their gift of acceptance can be. I have a passion and drive to see the growth and potential of what a nurtured child can become.

A little bit about me

Hi my name is Carlie! I’ve worked with children for some years now as a nanny and a babysitter and I thoroughly enjoy it! I grew up with lots of siblings and younger cousins so I was able to engage with children of all different ages. I really enjoy crafting and being outdoors so that’s often how I keep the little ones busy! I am always willing to help with homework and I love to cook ! I recently had a baby so a situation where baby can come along would be most ideal 😊

"I have two children, 3M and 4.5F. Carlie was amazing at keeping the babies’ lives relatively stable while my partner and I transitioned from in-office, to WFH, and back to in-office. My oldest loved her immediately but my younger wasn’t as sure when they first met. Within two weeks, he was as attached as if he’d known her for longer. With our work and because we are far from family, we needed someone dependable, prompt, and with a predictable schedule. Carlie reliably arrived to our house with time to spare as we were leaving. She easily handled our picky eater and helped her try a few new things. We are extremely cautious wr2 COVID and Carlie fit right in. It can be tough to make asks concerning an employee’s personal life but we were able to come to a mutual understanding where we were confident we could keep our children safe. Unfortunately, we relocated but if we could, we would’ve taken Carlie with us. My kiddos still ask about her and if we return, we’d beg her to come back."

A little bit about me

I’m passionate about nurturing children’s development, especially during the precious early years. With over six years of teaching experience and two years as a professional nanny, plus an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education (currently pursuing my Bachelor’s), I have extensive experience caring for infants and young children.

For the past two years, I’ve been a full-time nanny for a wonderful family who is relocating. I cared for their child from newborn through age two, supporting feeding and sleep routines, developmental milestones, and creating a calm, loving environment.

I value open communication and truly enjoy becoming an extension of the families I work with. My goal is for children to feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow — and for parents to feel confident and at ease.

I am CPR and First Aid certified and would love to connect to see if we’re a great fit!

How to Find a Babysitter in Greenville, SC

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Greenville, SC

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Greenville can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Greenville Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in South Carolina?
  • Do you have a South Carolina driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
