A little bit about me

Hello my name is Mikayla McDaniel. I am currently 22 years old and love working with children of all ages. I am currently an undergraduate student at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. I am working toward a degree in Child and Family Studies with a focus in community outreach. I would be available starting in May 2022. I have worked in after school program counseling children in a low-income setting. For most of working experience I have been a server at Sticky Rice Café. I would be available full-time from Monday-Friday with weekends off. I can also be flexible with my time. I am able to drive children back and forth from where they need to go and able to manage house duties also. I would love to get to know your family but especially you children. Thank you!

A little bit about me

I love working with kids of all ages! I have babysat for 13 years and was a nanny for a few families for four years. I love getting creative and spending time outdoors, doing hands-on activities, and working in routines. I have worked with children with sensory issues/emotional regulation issues for three years and have an incredible amount of patience with them as well as different ways to approach situations that arise that benefit them in the long run. I have worked in an early childhood center for three years with a variety of different children. I love all my kiddos and enjoy watching them grow! I am currently looking for a full-time nanny job to stay connected in helping the future generation grow as well while I am in school.

A little bit about me

I have been babysitting/nannying for about 7 years! I also worked at a pre-school in high school. My family has also worked in the nursery in our church, we foster children, and I have two little sisters. It is safe to say I am experienced in the babysitting field! On top of that, I am comfortable driving (I have my own car), cooking, and with most cleaning. Pets are always a plus!

A little bit about me

While I have no actual nanny experience, if that's a fancy word for babysitter I have been a "nanny" in some capacity for most of my life. I started at the age of 9. I have been a camp counselor, classroom aide, and have taught skiing for the past 8 years - mainly to children. I love children, and would have had a handful more, but my body was not cooperative. With my one and only being away (he attends Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, MI), I find I miss the noise and fun of kids..... I miss kids in my life! I understand what it's like to be a parent, and to have to be away from them for work, and the trust it involves to do that.

I am available for those hard to fill with conventional child care hours: 6 pm - 6 am.
I excel in math tutoring. I took music theory for 16 years, and play several different instruments, so can assist with practice, if needed. I have coached many a team, and can assist with that, as well as driving to practices, rehearsals, etc.

How to Find a Babysitter in Knoxville, TN

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, a dedicated hiring agent, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Knoxville, TN

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Knoxville can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Knoxville Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Tennessee?
  • Do you have a Tennessee driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
