A little bit about me

Hi! I am currently a freshman at Marquette University majoring in psychology. I am home for winter break until the end of January and am looking for a job as I am done with school and have an open schedule. I have been babysitting since 2015 and have nannied in the summer for three separate families over the past two summers. I work in Harbor Athletic club’s kids club, however, due to covid that has been shut down.

I have played soccer since I was 5 and am very active and willing to run around with kids. I also love board games and cards. Playing uno is one of my favorites. I like coloring and am always willing to participate in crafts. I am great with animals as I have had two pet mice and currently have two labs.

A little bit about me

My name is Kailin and I am 28 years old. I enjoy providing care to children of all ages. Childcare is and has always been my passion. I have an associates degree in Early Childhood Education and have been a neighborhood and family babysitter since I was 12 years old.

I completed the Early Childhood Education program at MATC in 2011. In the program, I completed four practicums, student teaching in daycare centers. With each practicum, my skills and abilities as a childcare provider advanced and prepared me for my career in childcare.

Upon graduating, I was offered a Lead Teaching position. I have been the Lead Teacher in the 2-year-old classroom for 7 years, and have enjoyed working with the younger ages. As the Lead Teacher, my responsibilities include: designing a structured daily routine, planning activities centered around arts, music, reading, math, letter recognition, and dramatic play. Each activity is designed to aid in the development of gross motor, fine motor, social, psychological, and self help skills. In addition to the daily activities, I am also responsible for assisting with meal times and nap/rest time. While working with 2-year-olds, I have also become very knowledgeable in strategies for successful potty training!

Throughout my education and work experience, I have worked with children with special needs including: Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, and ADHD. I am CPR Certified, SBS (shaken baby syndrome) certified, SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) certified and have taken the child abuse and neglect class. I have also taken classes about children with differing abilities. Feel free to ask any other questions.

How to Find a Babysitter in Verona, WI

Nanny Lane is a child care website meant to help you find a babysitter in your area. Our child care services include background checks, PLUS, and payroll.

Understand Babysitter Responsibilities in Verona, WI

Before beginning the search for a babysitter, it’s important to understand what you’re looking for and if a babysitter is the right choice for your child care needs. There are lots of benefits to hiring a babysitter such as getting the flexibility of having some more time for yourself or with your partner. When hiring a babysitter, first, you should explore the differences between a nanny and a babysitter. If you’re looking for occasional child care, babysitters are the right choice for you, but if you’re looking for more frequent care, a nanny may be better for your needs.

From there, you can think about what you expect your babysitter to handle so that you can create a profile for nannies to reach out to you. The boundaries for babysitters’ duties can vary from family to family. However, in general, a babysitter is responsible for making sure your kids’ needs are met, including things like ensuring they have opportunities to play and be active. When tasks go beyond child care, for example to housekeeping, laundry, or meal preparation, it’s good practice to communicate these expectations with your babysitter before hiring them. Along with the different duties that you ask for, experience and location in Verona can impact how much you pay your babysitter.

Verona Babysitter Interviews

Once you start connecting with prospective babysitters, the next step is to conduct an interview. To make things a bit easier, here’s a list of some babysitter interview questions to consider asking:

  • Do you have experience being a babysitter?
  • What sort of household tasks are you open and comfortable doing?
  • Do you have any references?
  • Are you trained in First Aid or CPR in Wisconsin?
  • Do you have a Wisconsin driver’s license? Do you own a car?
  • How do you handle tantrums? Can you share an experience disciplining children?

During the hiring process, it’s essential to ask for references and by asking their references questions you gain a better understanding of they will fit in your family. As you get closer to hiring a nanny, be sure to run a background check to ensure your kids are in good hands. When evaluating a babysitter that you’re considering hiring, make sure you’re setting the foundation for a good relationship with your babysitter. You can do this by being clear about your expectations around babysitter responsibilities and compensation, and of course, by being friendly and welcoming!

And of course, as you learn how to hire a babysitter, Nanny Lane's nanny services are here to help you along the way.
